Used these snips extensively in aluminum, but eventually switched to compound snips when I started working with steel as I was under the impression these snips were for thinner metal.
A couple of years later, the wider opening of the compound snips caused me to get stress injuries in my wrist and as an experiment, I switched back to these snips. At first I found them harder to use, but once you get adjusted to the extra hand strength needed, they’re much more comfortable to use. I regularly use them to cut 20 gauge steel with no issues.
The pointiness of the tips is a huge bonus over most other snips, and the smaller range of motion makes them more comfortable to use. Overall, an ideal snip, once you get used to it.
